Kirstie's Little Miracle

Kirstie and I went to the doctor last week to have her weight checked again. While there, I told the doctor that Kirstie's umbilical cord hadn't fallen off yet. This concerned her because she was almost 4 weeks old. We were told to start putting rubbing alcohol on it with each diaper change and call her on Friday. If it didn't fall off, we would have to do more blood work and tests to check her white blood cell count.
By Friday, it still hadn't fallen off, but was a little loose. The doctor said we could wait to come in for testing until next Tuesday, if we wanted. The cord wasn't making much progress in falling off, but we desperately wanted to avoid more testing if possible.
We called our dads, and they and Brent gave Kirstie a blessing on Sunday evening. When I got up with her at 4:00 that morning, the cord was barely hanging on and fell off by 9:00-- just 12 hours after the blessing. We're so thankful for priesthood blessings and prayers.
I took Kirstie in again to be weighed. 7 pounds, 2 ounces! We also don't have to go back until her 2 month appointment! As much as I like our pediatrician, I'm grateful to be done with these frequent doctor visits!
