Goals

I'm kinda surprised that the majority of the people on the poll said that they don't make resolutions. I find that very interesting. I guess they're lucky that they don't have to worry about feeling guilty when/if they break them!

While I was teaching, I was all about teaching my students to set goals. Each week they would write down a goal in their journal. Then the next week, they would reflect on how they did with it. I was big on them writing down their goals and sharing them because someone once told me that "a goal not written down is just a wish."

Well, I made some goals for the new year. They are written down and hanging on my fridge, but I thought I'd take my own advice and share them with others. Hopefully it'll help me stick to them if I am accountable to people.

Here they are:
1. Write in my journal once a week. I used to be really good at this. Not so much anymore. In fact, we're nearing the end of January and I still have yet to do this one.
2. Exercise at least 3 times a week. I'm proud to say that I'm doing really well on this one! Thank you to Kim for helping me do it at least once a week!
3. Don't eat after 8:00. I've made a few excpetions to this one, but that's how life goes, right? I won't beat myself up over this.
4. Drink more water. When I was teaching I was great at this. I would have a water bottle on my desk constantly, so it was easy to do. I bet Brent is now getting tired of finding empty water bottles all over the house. Sorry, hon!

There they are! If you see me, feel free to check up on how I'm doing. Peer pressure can work wonders!

I think it is great to have goals! Maybe we should work out more than once a week! That way we have to answer to each other!

Did you know that I've never written a journal? Kinda bad, I know. I guess I could count my blog as a journal-ish sort of thing. I've never had writing in my journal as a goal either—perhaps that's my problem.

Good luck with your goals!! I try to set them but I follow them through for oh maybe a month or so and then forget about them, hopefully you are better than me! Oh and the whole drinking water when we taught, so much easier I agree! We need to get together one of these days!

Great goals! I count my blog as a journal, do you do both? We're coming out in March and I am going to go visit Brookwood again. Do you want to come? Have you been over there recently?
