Playing with my friend Elise at a ward party.
Reading the Sunday paper with mom and dad.
Kirstie is 9 months old now! She is the joy of our lives. She has a very strong personality and knows what she wants and doesn't want. She is a sweetheart! She isn't crawling yet, so if you have and suggestions to help her, let me know. We put her toys just our of reach, but she loses interest when she can't get them. Any more ideas?

Does she get up on her hands and knees yet? You can put a rolled up towel under her or "drape" her over your leg as you are sitting on the ground to play with her. Encourage her to get on hands and knees and rock. If she is over your leg, you can lift it a little like a "horsie" and use song and movement to make a game of it. Crawl with her. Show her how. While she's laying on her back, do movement activities that cross her midline (left hand to right foot, etc). When she's on her back pump her legs left and right (like riding a bike) to encourage the left/right movement. Songs and rhymes always make it fun (and prepare her to read). :)
And don't worry, she's still within normal crawling age. She will do it when she's ready.
Daila didn't crawl, she scooted. She has recently been diagnosed with sensory integration dysfunction, but I wish I had encouraged more of that left/right movement at a young age. She is better now with physical therapy and can ride a bike, but I'm still working on it.
This may be more than you asked for, but hopefully it will get you thinking of some of your own ideas. And hopefully you haven't already tried all this. :)
I love your zoo pics! The one at the auction with Brent holding them is adorable as well. I still think it's okay that she doesn't crawl yet. I was thinking about it, and Elise was closer to 10 months before she got the hang of it. Give it time, it will happen. She is so close!
Enjoy that she can't crawl yet, because then she will really be into everything. Out will come the gate. She will be walking and running before you know it. They figure it out quickly.
HOW CUTE! Aren't kids the Best! And I agree, enjoy the "non-mobil" Stage...Spencer climbs on everything and is tall enough to get things off the kitchen counter...enjoy it, don't stress, it'll happen when she decides she needs to. :)
