I'm a Big Girl Now!

This past weekend, we moved Kirstie from her crib to her big girl bed. We set the bed up a few days ahead of time and she was so excited! She loved playing on it! We also bought a new fuzzy purple pillow to make the bed more special. Although she loved playing on the bed, when it came to actually sleeping in it Friday night, she wasn't so sure. At first, she ran after us as we left the room, so I thought I'd stay in the room with her until she fell asleep. It soon was apparant that it was a bad idea as she got more and more hyper. I tried to ignore her as I sat in the rocking chair, but she kept coming up to me and saying, "hi." She was playing with her pillow, pulling the blanket on and off her head, crawling all around the bed, playing with the nightlight at the foot of her bed, kicking her feet against the wall, slapping her hands against the wall-- you name it! Finally after nearly 2 hours, I said "Good night," and left her alone in the room crying. However she cried herself to sleep in about 5 minutes. Tonight was night #3 in her bed and she went down without a fuss!! She still cries when she wakes up in the morning, but as soon as we come in to get her, she jumps out of bed, makes her bed, and is on her way. All in all, I think this transition has been a success!! Good job Big Girl!!!

How fun! We had to lock Finn in for the first year until he learned he wasn't supposed to get out of his big boy bed.
