Brent and I wanted to go on some sort of vacation with the kids this summer. But a long car ride with little kids didn't sound appealing, nor did spending a lot of money. So, we decided to do an increasingly popular "staycation." With our kids being so young, we also decided not to do everything at once, but to break it up and do one each month during the summer. So, this past weekend we went on "Vacation #1!"
We took our kids all the way out to West Valley and stayed at a hotel overnight. Friday night we went over to Hollywood Connection and had a blast there! Both Kirstie and Ian LOVED the little rides there.
After going on the rides a million times, we played some arcade games. We won lots of tickets on Skee Ball and Kirstie picked out a bracelet and some rings.

After getting a bite to eat, we headed back to the hotel. Brent and Kirstie went swimming while I got Ian down to sleep and watched some TLC (love that channel!). Here is Kirstie's "special bed." We let her sleep on the pull out sofa!
As you can see, Jeannine (the cabbage patch) came on vacation with us too, of course. She got left in the lobby when we checked in, but the hotel staff found her. That could've been tragic!
The next day after breakfast we all headed back to the pool. The cool thing about this hotel is their indoor water park. They have a little kid area with some slides, 1 big slide, and a few different pools. It was a lot of fun!
Kirstie absolutely loved it!!
And so did Ian. This was his first time swimming and he LOVED it! He splashed and kicked and laughed and laughed the whole time! He even forgot that he was hungry and tired!
We had a FABULOUS time! On the way home, Kirstie was already asking about our next vacation in June. Stay tuned to hear about Vacation #2--our annual trip to Solitude next month!

We LOVE the staycation trips! Though, I know exactly where you were staying AND you were like 30 seconds away from us! We would've LOVED a visit!!!!!

We have had a "staycation" many times! I LOVE the idea of breaking it up, we always try to crame everything into one weekend! Great pics!
That looks like so much fun!! We're thinking of doing something like that, with Nate's crappy work schedule, and not being able to take a lot of time off.... you'll have to tell me which hotel that was, my kids would be won over by just the pool!! Cute cute family, btw, I love looking at your blog!! It's the least I can do til we finally get together! Love ya!
