In August we went on family "staycation" #3 to downtown SLC! Our first stop was Hogle Zoo!

We rode the train (where Brent almost left Ian in the stroller).
Later we rode the Trax train downtown. Very exciting!
We went to dinner downtown and spent some time at the Planetarium. You could say this trip was "Out of this world!" ;)
Of course, staying at a hotel is the best thing of all. The kids had lots of fun playing in the hotel room. The downside of this trip occured at 11:00 that night when the fire alarm went off and the whole hotel was evacuated. We had to wake our sleeping kids and sit outside forever-- all for a false alarm. We finally got the kids back to sleep and was trying to get some shuteye ourselves when it went off again-- just on our floor this time. Getting the kids back to sleep again was not a fun thing. However to make up for it, the hotel didn't charge us for the night!
After an eventful breakfast (how many times can a family spill juice in one meal?), we headed over to Temple Square and the Church History Museum where we spent some time playing in the children's area. We built buildings...
...made dinner for the missionaries...
...drove a truck...
...and went fishing in Nephi's boat. Next up: lunch at Cafe Rio and then home to get some rest after our busy weekend!
