Trick or Treat!

Here's our cute little trick-or-treaters!  Kirstie decided months ago that she wanted to be Alice in Wonderland for Halloween.  I'm not sure where she got the idea from-- probably from our trip to Disneyland, although she hated the Alice ride.  Anyways, my mom happened to spot an Alice costume on sale, so she was all set.  I bought Ian's costume at a garage sale.  He was either just a little baby or I might even have been pregnant with him.  Either way, I had no idea at the time how fitting it would be to dress him as a monkey.  No costume could fit him more perfectly!

I remember when I was young, back when we switched times for daylight savings before Halloween.  It would get dark earlier so that we could start our trick or treating earlier-- around 5:30.  I wished that still happened.  At 6:00 our kids had eaten dinner, were dressed and ready to go but it was still way too light outside.  We waited until about 6:15 and then Brent set off with them, leading the pack of trick-or-treaters.  He said there was literally a line of kids trick-or-treating a few houses down the street from where they were.

Our neighbor Jo-Jo stopped by to say hi.  He was all ready to go with us, but we convinced him he better wait for his mom to take him.

Ian got a kick out of the banana in his pocket.

Brent took the kids out while I stayed home to pass out candy.  I was hungry, so I heated up some leftover broccoli (yes, I know that's kinda weird) and sat on the couch eating it while working on some  temple quotes for young women.  I thought to myself, this is a very strange way to spend Halloween night-- broccoli and temple quotes!

After trick or treating in our neighborhood, we headed over to my parents' house to eat some food (and candy of course) and hang out there for a bit.  We took the kids trick or treating to a few of the neighbor's houses.  I think Kirstie could have gone all night long.  She was still going strong when we made her stop and go back inside.

It was a spook-tacular Halloween and the kids can't wait to do it all over again next year!
