The Battle of the Drip

Many winter mornings, around 9:00 am, I will start to hear "drip, drip, drip" coming from the hallway.  I go to the kitchen and grab some bowls (set aside in a handy spot just for this reason) and place them down to catch the water dripping from the swamp cooler.  I used to need only one bowl, but now I'm up to 3 or 4 some days.  It often only lasts about 15 minutes, though some days it will continue to drip well into the afternoon.  Sometimes there is only a splash of water, other days there's quite a bit.  We're a little baffled by this drip.  Brent and his dad have been up on our roof multiple times to try and seal around the swamp cooler better.  We've put insulation up there during the winter months, but nothing seems to help.  We figure it has something to do with the sun melting the frost (which is why it happens around the same time each day.)  I guess until summer, we'll just have a semi-permanent addition to our hallway floor.

Oh dear! We used to have a problem like this one in Michigan. It was the opposite. It was in the summer, the condensation of the pipes when it got hot in the summer would cause it from the cool water going through the pipes, and would drip ALL over the basement floor. We covered up the pipes with foam noodles. :) Worked like a charm. :)
