Friends

From the time was just a few weeks old, she had friends she "hung out" with.  My friend Kim and I each had baby girls within a few months of each other and they were always together.  However, Ian's never really had a friend his age to play with.  There are kids his age, mostly girls it seems, and we just seldom get together with them.  But recently Ian has become good friends with a boy in our ward named Cade.  I'm lucky to go into nursery and do music with them.  It's so fun to watch them together during the short time I'm there.  Last week we invited Cade over to our house for Ian's first official play date.  Ian was SO excited!  He talked about it for days before and days after.  Kirstie was also excited for Cade to come over.  She and her friends are good to let Ian play with them, so I was interested to see how this would go.  Kirstie and Ian almost fought over Cade's attention, both trying to get him to play what they wanted.  At one point they were playing house.  Kirstie decided she'd be the mom, Cade the dad, and Ian the brother.  She would take Cade by the hand and lead him around.  Tomorrow Ian gets to go over to Cade's house to play.  My little boy is growing up!!  It's fun to watch him play with his friends!
