A Year in Review
2009
We thought about doing a "Top Ten" list of events in 2009 for our family, but we couldn't narrow it down to just 10. (Plus half of them were about Kirstie). So here's what you get instead:
Brent
Brent celebrated his 31st birthday this year. In honor of being so old (at least according to Wendy), he decided to shave his head. It sure is nice to save money on haircuts! In May he pulled a "Joey Tribbiani" and got a hernia (you get bonus points if you understand what we're referring to!). He had surgery, and is doing great now! At the end of the summer, Brent was released as 2nd counselor in the Young Men, a calling that he loved. He currently serves in the Nursery. Brent still works doing fire sprinklers and has spent A LOT of time working up in Spokane, WA these past few months. We hate him being away from the family, but are very grateful that he has a job. Other big news for Brent include eating and liking grapes this summer. Wendy couldn't be more happy! He has been happily married to the best wife ever. They celebrated their 4th anniversary in April.
Wendy
Wendy began teaching piano lessons in January. She currently has 5 students, with 2 more waiting to start. It gives her a taste of teaching and little variety in the day. In March she was privileged to sing in a choir for the Draper Temple Dedication. She stood an arm's length away from the Prophet! Wendy had to say some sad farewells this year-- she lost her grandma in February and her dear friend Jen in May. She was honored to participate in both funeral services. Getting the Internet this summer has helped her stay busy with all the different blogs she has, as well as keep up with friends on Facebook! She also keeps busy with scrapbooking, crafts, being a mom to the cutest girl ever, and her new calling. At the end of the summer Wendy was called to be the Young Women President. It is an extremely busy calling, but she loves the girls she works with. Her biggest milestone this year was turning 30 this past month. Boy, that's old. She just keeps telling Brent that she'll never be as old as him!
Kirstie
What a year for our Kirstie-girl! I guess that happens when you're only a year old! It's been a year of changes for her, starting in January when she got to start eating solid food! She is a very good eater who loves all types of fruits, cheese and cookies! Kirstie learned to get around, first with her army crawl, and then later in October by walking. She is all over the house and into EVERYTHING (including toilets, garbages, you name it!) Kirstie celebrated her 1st birthday on July 24th! We had a fun party with all her family members. The day that her daddy shaved his head, Kirstie also got her first haircut! She's had a second one since then and is almost ready for another! We love her pretty hair! Kirstie hit a little bump in the road when she got the swine flu in November. She was a very sick girl for a couple of weeks. It was also the week that our furnace went out, we didn't have any heat, and Brent was gone up in Spokane! What a crazy week! Another big change for Kirstie was getting glasses this past month. We knew she had a lazy eye, but found out she is also extremely far-sighted. She has adjusted so well to her glasses, and we are amazed at what a difference they have made for her. She is the biggest sweetheart who loves to give hugs, and always has a smile.
We are grateful for all the blessings and experiences we have had this past year and look forward to another great year in 2010!!

Oh sad! I didn't realize she had the swine flu. Did she get the shot? I haven't immunized anyone in my house for that and just need your opinion on that.
Lisa-
Yes, she did get the first dose of the vaccine, but got sick before she could get her second dose. Although she was really sick, the drs said it could've been a lot worse if she hadn't gotten the vaccine. So, for us, it was the right choice.
