To celebrate the 4th of July weekend, we had a backyard campout on Friday! (We meaning Brent and Kirstie-- I slept inside with Ian in my nice comfy bed!)
When everything was set up, Kirstie layed down on her sleeping bag and said to me, "Mom, this is special for me!"
We bought a fire bowl just for the occassion (although we'd wanted one for a long time).
I tried to explain to Kirstie what smores were-- she just didn't get it. She just wanted to eat everything separately. And she didn't want a roasted marshmallow- crazy girl!
Kirstie and Jeanine had a late night swing before bedtime.
And then it was off to sleep...or maybe not. Neighbors were doing fireworks until after 11:00 which kept her up. Finally, she nodded off to sleep-- until 6:30. Not much sleep for them. Me, on the other hand, I slept great!

Having gone camping for real lately, this version sounds like my kind of camping! S'mores...Mmmmm! They're really the BEST!
