This past weekend we took the kids (and my sister) to Lagoon. I hadn't been there for years- since before Kirstie was born, so naturally the kids had never been there either! We went the first week of Frightmares, hoping to avoid some crowds and enjoy some cooler weather. We weren't disappointed on either point!
The Kiddie Land was a lot of fun! Kirstie loved all the rides-- and especially loved riding them with Melissa!
Ian didn't show a lot of emotion on the rides. But I guess no tears is a good sign!
Baby Boats-- a classic Lagoon ride. The kids LOVED it and went on it multiple times. They just need two bells so the kids won't fight over it!
Puff the Magic Dragon...
Guess who's favorite ride this one was!
Kirstie called this ride "The Dumbo Ride" and went on it over and over. Ian didn't like many rides that he went on without Brent or I, but he did this one twice with Kirstie.
When he wasn't riding, he was content to stand by and wave and shout Hi to Kirstie.
Brent and Melissa are crazy. I can't stand Samurai, but they love it. Crazy, crazy, crazy.
They had some cute things set up for Frightmares including this little corn maze for kids where they met some friendly characters and got some treats.
Pioneer Village is under-rated. We ate both lunch and dinner there. It's a nice, quiet place to get a break from all the hustle and bustle of Lagoon. We ate lunch at a pavilion where we could watch the log flume. Kirstie was all excited to go on it.
Kirstie, Melissa, and I all got pretty darn wet on the ride. That changed Kirstie's mind about the ride very quickly. She hates getting wet. Brent ducked down as far as he could to hide from the water, leaving the rest of us to get wet. Lucky Ian was squished between me and Brent and escaped most of the water too.
Tilt-A-Whirl was a favorite of everyone's. The kids went on it 3 or 4 times.
Brent and I each took a kid on Flying Aces. We both came off covered in drool. Not sure what it is about that ride that makes kids drool!
Melissa, Kirstie and I squished together on the space scrambler.
Ian rode on the frog for Grandma Olsen-- it's her favorite one on the merry-go-round.
Did you know that the merry-go-round is the only one in Utah that has hand-carved animals? And it's one of only 150 or so in the U.S. Oh, the things you learn!
Kirstie enjoyed riding with other kids on the rides. She was always happy to let others hop on with her. She's a very shy girl when it comes to adults, but she has no reservations with it comes to other kids. Everyone is her friend!
Ian again was content not to go on rides, but just to sit back and eat some snacks. I was worried about sending him on rides by himself (or with Kirstie) because I was afraid that he'd try to crawl out of the ride while it was going. So I was actually pretty relieved that he didn't care about not going on some rides.
But one ride he wasn't going to miss was the train! Choo-choo!! It was fun to see all the different animals they have there-- they have some really cool ones! I just can't believe that they keep the animals in such lousy cages.
Kirstie wanted to sit by Melissa on the train, of course.
Nighttime is always fun at Lagoon with all the lights on the rides. And the lines were even shorter since a lot of families had gone home. Our plan was to leave at 7 or 8:00. Didn't happen. We just kept going and going and didn't end up leaving until just about closing time.
Kirstie was the only one on this ride on time!
We were walking toward the gate, when Kirstie decided she needed just one more ride. Since there was no line, we agreed. She and Brent were the only ones on this ride!
All in all, it was a very fun day. Brent, Melissa, and I found out that we are not as young as we used to be. We still got on all the "big rides" that we wanted to, but didn't have much energy-- or desire-- left for anything more. :)

What fun family activity! Steven gets motion sick so easily so I end up going on many rides with the kids. Lucky me!!
