Conference Time!

This weekend our church held its semi-annual General Conference-- a weekend where we get to listen to our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson and the other apostles in our church.  As always, it was an inspiring weekend!

Although I love General Conference, it becomes increasingly hard to listen as the kids get older, more active and nosier!  This year I put a lot of time into finding activities that would keep them busy, yet bring their attention back to what was happening on tv every once in awhile.

We made toilet paper roll puppets of the first presidency and the pulpit.  Kirstie enjoyed making up their talks.

I had lots of projects for Kirstie that included coloring, cutting, gluing and tracing letters-- her favorite activities as of late.

Ian was sick for Saturday's session of conference-- I admit, it was kinda nice to have him a little mellow.  However, on Sunday he was full of energy again!  So he kept busy playing...

 ...climbing on daddy...

...building things, and just keeping busy.

Every once in awhile we got him to sit down and color a picture.

But the highlight of the weekend was the candy!  We had certain words to listen for in the talks such as temple, family, and church.  When they were said, they got a small piece of candy.  Kirstie is a great listener and spent the weekend on a candy high!

Ever since she was a tiny girl, Kirstie has always loved the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  In fact, she just loves Conference altogether.  She talked about it all weekend and in between sessions, she kept asking when it was going to be on again.  Kirstie's been on a dancing kick lately and each time the choir sang, she broke out her dance moves which closely resemble and Irish jig or a river dance of some sort.  She made sure she dressed in either a skirt or dress each day so that she'd be prepared to dance when they sang.
