The First Snow of the Season!

Today we woke up to a winter wonderland!  The kids were thrilled to see all the snow.  After seeing the snow in the front yard, Kirstie looked out our kitchen window and exclaimed, "Mom!  It snowed in the backyard too!"  They could hardly wait to go play in it.  I'm so glad I only have 2 kids because it took forever to get everyone dressed and ready to go out in the snow!

Kirstie's a pro at playing in the snow now.  After all, she is 4 years old (which she often reminds Ian of.)  She walked out and dropped right away to do a snow angel.

We had perfect snowman snow--not too dry, not too wet!  So we rolled and rolled and rolled the snow.

Kirstie also showed off her flips (which are really just somersaults) in the snow.

Ian wasn't too sure about the snow.  At first he was upset that his toys and balls had snow on them.

And the swingset too was covered in snow.  He just sat there staring at it, not knowing what to do.

But really got him was that the snow was sticking on his boots and gloves. He hates having having anything dirty, so he didn't like the snow at on him at all.  He kept asking me to wash his hands and feet.  He wouldn't walk in the snow anymore-- he just stood on the driveway or patio, so I finally got him a chair and he sat and watched us play.  He was a very grumpy boy until I finally took him in and got all his snow clothes off.

I did eventually coax him out to take a pictures by the snowman, but he wasn't happy about it!

Kirstie thought it would be a good idea to give her gloves to the snowman to use.  I disagreed.

We built a snowman in the front yard as well.  We decided to make this one a "Halloween snowman" by giving him a pumpkin head instead of snow.  We were very sad that both snowmen only lasted about an hour at the most before falling over.

Kirstie went out again after lunch to play some more, worrying that the snow was going to melt if she waited a moment longer.  For a girl who was complaining just yesterday that she missed summer, she sure couldn't get enough of the snow!  It's going to be a fun winter-- at least for Kirstie.  Hopefully Ian will come around soon!
