Happy Birthday Ian!!

Happy 3rd birthday Ian!
We had a lot of fun celebrating Ian's birthday last week.  We went with a construction truck theme for his birthday because he is obsessed with work trucks.  He knows all the different types of trucks and has a whole bunch of toy trucks.  When it's time to clean up toys, he has to use one of his trucks to do it.  Sometimes his excavator picks up the toys and puts them away. Other times his dump truck does it.  Anyway, I had a lot of fun planning his party.

His birthday was on Sunday, but we started the celebration on Saturday with his birthday lunch.  He decided to go to Rock Creek Pizza.  They have the best pizza buffet!  Yummy!  The kids ate their money's worth in goldfish and gummy bears.  With a little pizza on the side.

Good morning Birthday Boy!!  He was so excited to have streamers in the doorway.  I love that he's easy to please.

I made waffles with peaches and cool whip for breakfast. (My favorite-- fresh peaches from our tree.)  Birthday boy had his with syrup and cool whip.  Gross.  But he ate it up.  We then headed over to the church for regional conference.  We sat by some friends who helped entertain our kids, so the two hours was more bearable.

After church it was present time!  We gave him a shirt, a Little People carwash, some tools, and Kirstie gave him a police car & helicopter.

That evening we invited all our extended family over for a party.  It had been cold and RAINY all week long, so we were very grateful for a warm, sunny day for the party.  I have no idea where we would have put everyone if it had started to rain.

Ian had a dirt cake this year.  I crushed cookies on top and cut up pieces of Snickers to look like rocks.  Then added the finishing touch-- his excavator.  His priceless, #1 favorite toy!

Happy Birthday to you!  (cha-cha-cha!)
Happy Birthday to you! (cha-cha-cha!)
Happy Birthday dear Ian!
Happy Birthday to you!  (cha-cha-cha!)
Ian was very insistent that we add the cha-cha-chas when singing to him.  Kirstie was adamant not to have them, Ian was adamant that we did.  It's been a hot topic of conversation at our house for 2 months.

So, I'm pretty proud of how his cake turned out.  I something completely different in mind for his cake.  Something....simple.  (Not a word found often in my vocabulary.)  But then I saw a cake like this on the Internet and knew I had to try it!  I was a little nervous that it wouldn't turn out, especially since I wouldn't know until I cut into it.  But it turned out great!  I also made a peach cobbler, just in case.  (Again with peaches from our wonderful peach tree!)

Happy Birthday Ian!  We love you so much!  We love your energy and sense of adventure.  You're always willing to try new things.  We also love your sense of humor.  You are such a silly boy.  We love your giant, run-at-you hugs.  You're a great brother and son.  We love you!!!
