Thanksgiving Feast

Kirstie's Kindergarten class had a Thanksgiving Feast before the holiday break last week.  It was my assigned day to help in the classroom that morning, so I got to go early and help prepare the food and then stay for the feast as well.  And what a feast it was!  Pumpkin pie, turkey, ham, cheese, popcorn, crackers, pretzels, apples, grapes, raisins, craisins, pineapple, oranges, carrots, celery, tomatoes, olives and chocolate milk!
The kids had decorated turkey hats and made macaroni necklaces to wear.  They also made placemates for the feast.  The day before Kirstie was telling me about them.  When I asked what they looked like, she said they looked like leaves.  They actually were supposed to be deer hide.  :)

Kirstie, Aspen and Ruthie

Kirstie and Whitney were wearing matching shirts.  These two girls haven't really been friends in the past.  In fact, Whitney's not really the type of girl I wanted Kirstie to be friends with.  She's just not very nice.  But my sweet Kirstie doesn't see that side of people.  She just wants to be friends with everyone.  I guess they've started being friends and sometimes play at recess.  I guess I should try to be as accepting as Kirstie, but it's hard when you've seen someone be mean to your kid!

At the end, the class sang some Thanksgiving songs.  I love that her teacher sings so much in class.  Kirstie is always singing songs from school.  They boy sitting in front of Kirstie is Zac.  Apparently Zac is hilarious.  They sit on the same table and laugh together all the time.  We hear a lot about him at home.  During the feast another mom told me that Zac told her that Kirstie was his girlfriend.

Kirstie was the VIP the week before in class.  Since noone was the VIP the following week, she got to keep her poster up!  She was so excited for me to see it hanging it in the classroom.  She had looked forward to being the VIP all year long!

The top turkey is Kirstie's.  I helped her class make these with their handprints the other week when I helped in the classroom.
