Happy Easter

Be prepared for picture overload.  There were just so many cute ones, that I decided to post a whole bunch.
These pictures are pretty self-explanatory.  So I'll just add a few thoughts here and there.  Such as, look at Ian's farmer tan!  And his bib is really his "apron."  It's a tiny baby bib that he insists on wearing as an apron any time we are cooking or doing messy things.  Not sure how much it helps protect his clothing (or belly.)  I need to ask Brent's mom to make him an apron.

The kids had lots of fun coloring eggs.  We had been so busy that day that we were kinda rushing them to get it done.  They didn't get to put stickers on them because we ran out of time.  They were really mad on Monday when I started cracking the eggs to eat them.  They didn't want me to use them at all, and especially without stickers on them.

Easter morning came WAY too early.  We had been playing hard all week during Spring Break.  We were hoping the kids would sleep in.  Nope.  But they did stay in their room peeking out the window at the eggs hidden in the back yard.
After Brent and I finally dragged ourselves out of bed, we looked at their Easter baskets.  I think they both kind of forgot the the Easter Bunny even does that!  They were too excited to go find eggs.  The Easter Bunny brought some outdoor essentials-- bubbles, buckets, frisbees, chalk, watering cans-- all the things that broke or were used up last summer!  Ian also got a ball and Kirstie got a little Barbie doll-- Kira is her name.

Bubble gum is all it takes to make him one happy little boy.

Despite the scared looks on their faces, they were beyond thrilled to get Frozen.  I think we are the last people in the world to own it!

Finally it was easter egg hunt time.  I love how she was holding her night gown as she ran-- such a girl!

Kirstie has the funniest smile.  It's the smile she pulls when she's asked to smile.  We got family pictures taken the other day and this is the kind of smile we got out of her.

Another fun part of Easter-- new clothes!  We put Ian's pants on him and when we got to church we noticed that they were getting a little short on him.  I checked the size.  18-24 months.  He's 3 1/2.  Maybe it's time to buy a new pair.

They came up with this pose on their own.

She LOVES the sideway glace pose.  Very feminine.

I think Ian was trying to copy her pose.

This is my favorite of him.

And this one too.

And I LOVE this one of the two kids.

After a busy day at church (I had to play the organ in addition to primary singing time), we headed over to my parents' house for dinner and another egg hunt.  The kids loved being with their cousins.  We figured that we hadn't seen them since Christmas time.  Kirstie loves her cousin Adison who is only 6 months younger than her.   And Ian idolizes his older cousin Owen.  He had big plans for him and Owen-- play in the sandbox together, play baseball (Ian brought his new bat to show him), play basketball, and anything else he could think of.  Luckily, Owen is a great kid and was happy to spend time doing those things with Ian.

With all of the Easter fun, we don't want to forget the true meaning of Easter.  We are very grateful for our Savior, his life, death and in particular the knowledge that He lives again.  The best part of it all is that we will live again too!  This knowledge is especially comforting as we remember family and friends that have passed away.  We are grateful for this knowledge and for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
