Ian played his first t-ball game tonight! He was so excited about playing and about his uniform-- he wanted to wear the shirt every day, but we made him wait until today. So he woke up bright and early and put it right on. Since it's more of a nightgown than a shirt, I convinced him to save it just for his games-- it'll be more special that way. His hat though has gone everywhere with him. I'll never have to worry about combing his hair again because he'll always have his hat!
We're playing out in West Jordan because in Sandy you have to be 4 to play. So we got signed up on his cousin Kamden's team. It's a bit of a rush to get out there for his 5:30 games, but oh well. It's only for a couple of months.
Ian has a lot of natural talent when it comes to baseball. He's a great hitter and can throw really well. He even lifts up his leg when he throws. It's not something we taught him-- it just all comes naturally to this boy. I overheard a couple of girls talking about him at the game tonight. "Watch this kid. He's the smallest one on the team, but he's the best hitter. And he's a fast runner too!" He definitely takes after this dad. Watching Brent play softball, I always hear people commenting on what a fast runner Brent is.
His game was so funny to watch! They didn't have an actual diamond to play on this week, so they put bases down on the grass. But it was pretty crammed. There were a lot of boys in a little space. And don't forget all the parents that stood in the outfield with their kid-- the other team especially had so many parents out there. It was cute to watch the kids just start running, not knowing where they're running to. Or hit the ball and then try and run after it. Or all the kids diving for the one hit ball each time. One time when Ian was up to bat, a kid from the other team just walked up, took the ball off the tee and started running with it. But the whole point of this is to have fun while learning how to play! That's what I hope he gets out of this experience.
His long shirt just cracks me up! And it's too long to try and tuck in or anything! Not sure if we can shrink it or not.
Daddy is a good helper for the team. The coach was trying to keep the boys organized and entertained. Brent helped them at bat.
I don't know why, but I really love this picture of his running!
Uncle Ben helps out with the team too. He helped the kids know which base to run to.
Love that little grin!
Doing a little dance or something here.
Making sure he knows where he's supposed to run to.
At the end of the game, instead of treats, they get a ticket to get something from the snack bar. Great for the little players. Not so great for the older sister who has to sit and watch it all. Luckily, he was fine with our family rule that he picks something that can be shared. Tonight he chose M&Ms.

Caden and Whitney did Tball there at that age too! They were on the Red Sox. So much fun! :)
