She's growing up way too fast! I can't believe my little girl is in 1st grade. The first day of school was...interesting. Her school is weird-- there was never a day to meet your new teacher, find your classroom-- nothing. She knew a couple of kids in her class and her teacher's name. (Luckily, we knew what she looked like and stuff). The first day of school, all the kids met at the front doors. They invited parents inside to cheer students on as they came through the door. The other moms and I stayed outside with our nervous little 1st graders who had no idea what was going on. Then they herded all the kids at once into the school. They led them down some hall, then back outside to find their doors to line up. It was all very confusing and chaotic. Not the best way to welcome these little kids to school! But, she had a great day and likes her teacher.
The past couple of weeks she's had a hard time with the transition to 1st grade. The days are long and she doesn't like being away from me all day. She's convinced that we do all sorts of fun things without her. I think she's also struggling with friends-- all the friends from our neighborhood are in the same class. So that's hard on her. We've had a good couple of days this past week, so hopefully everything is on the upswing!
Ainsley, Kirstie and Amber-- friends from the ward.
Is she short, or are these girls tall?
And she's off!
Kirstie and her teacher, Mrs. LaPutka
So with Kirstie gone all day, what do Ian and I do?? Good question. Those first days were VERY long!! I realized that I'm not very good at playing boy things. But we had fun building a car wash...
...and then knocking it down.
Ian and I are enjoying our time together-- and his time with friends without having to share toys (with Kirstie, I mean!)

I am glad Elise isn't the only one who is struggling with 1st grade. This past week has been better though. :)
