Yesterday we woke up to snow, snow, and more snow. We had at least a foot-- Brent says maybe 18"-- and it didn't show any signs of letting up. So we bundled everyone up and went out to have some fun. Last year I bought some snow tubes for the kids, but there was never enough snow to even use them. In fact, I think we got more snow this weekend than we probably did all last year! Anyway, we got the tubes out and Brent and I took turns pulling the kids up and down the street. We were pretty bummed when the snow plows came down our street.
After helping the neighbors shovel their driveway (because he's such a good guy), Brent and Ian started a snowball fight with the neighborhood boys. Ian was thrilled to find out he could throw snow. He throws anything he can get his hands on!
No snow day is complete unless you make a snowman! With the help of a bunch of kids we made a giant snowman! Brent and I took turns picking Ian up who kept falling in the deep snow and getting stuck.
I think we wore him out!
It was surprising how cute the neighborhood boys were with our kids. They had fun pulling them around on the tubes, helping pick Ian up when he fell, and playing with them.
Kirstie just loves, loves, loves to eat snow. She and JoJo sat in the corner of the yard eating snow and giggling.
Ian thought it was hilarious to throw himself down in the snow like this. We would just lay there and laugh until we helped him up.
After more than two hours outside we took a few more laps with both kids on the tube-- this time just around the snowman in the front yard.
All the kids were proud of their happy, smiling snowman! Later that day I found the boys back in our yard fixing him because his eyes and buttons had fallen off.
In the sun he melted, melted, melted. Our snowman looks a little tired, doesn't he? It reminds me of the book, Snowmen at Night. The book says that at night snowmen leave the yard and gather together at the park to have fun together. That's why they might look a little different in the morning. Looks like ours had quite the party overnight!

I'm such a bad Mom and totally failed at taking photos of our big snow fall. YOU on the other hand, that's quite the party! If K likes to eat snow so much, have you made snow ice cream with her yet? I haven't had it, but I've seen it made. If I remember correctly, it had sweetened condensed milk in it...so it has to be delicious! ;)
